Ke$ha Celebrates National Coming Out Day

'We R Who We R' T-shirts support the Human Rights Campaign.

<a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/kesha_/artist.jhtml">Kesha</a> has joined forces with the Human Rights Campaign to help celebrate National Coming Out Day on Tuesday (October 11).The pop singer created a special message T-shirt, featuring a purple zebra, that <a href="/news/articles/1653432/kehas-we-r-who-we-r-video-hot-dangerous.jhtml">proclaims "We R Who We R,"</a> the title of her hit anthem about individuality. The shirts sell for $35, with all proceeds supporting the HRC's work to achieve equality for the LGBT community.According to the <a href="http://www.hrc.org/press-releases/entry/human-rights-campaign-unveils-t-shirt-collaboration-with-kesha" target="_blank">HRC website</a>, only 1,000 shirts will be produced.Others are also using the day to bring awareness to LGBT issues. Several notable celebrities will be honored by the Equality Forum, which is hosting an event and profiling notable LGBT members in pop culture.As <a href="http://miamiherald.typepad.com/gaysouthflorida/2011/10/lgbt-history-month-honors-ricky-martin-wanda-sykes-ryan-murphy-pedro-zamora-27-other-icons.html#ixzz1aTgr8yl4" target="_blank">LGBT History Month</a> rolls on throughout October, Ricky Martin, Wanda Sykes, "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy and Pedro Zamora, a former "The Real World" castmember turned AIDS activist, all will be profiled by the organization."We're the only minority worldwide that's not taught history at home, in school or religious institutions," said Malcolm Lazin, Equality Forum's founder and executive director. "Like every group that's been marginalized, it really helps to make the case why we should take real pride in ourselves and our community."Since launching the program five years ago, over 200 icons have been profiled, including Jane Lynch, Lady Gaga and Neil Patrick Harris. Lazin called LGBT month "empowering and life affirming."The message comes amid increased awareness about young people being bullied, including MTV's <a href="http://www.athinline.org">A Thin Line</a> campaign. The MTV film <a href="http://www.mtv.com/shows/disconnected/series.jhtml">"DISconnected,"</a> which premiered Monday night, focuses on issues in a world where technology controls personal lives."I see the viciousness of people every day," said <a href="/news/articles/1672289/jersey-shore-vinny-disconnected-fight-negativity.jhtml">"Jersey Shore" star Vinny Guadagnino</a> on the "DISconnected" after show. For a while now, folks have been referring to <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a> as a queen ... but now, she's going to make it official. On the big screen.According to <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2012/05/beyonce-colin-farrell-josh-hutcherson-amanda-seyfried-steven-tyler-lead-voice-cast-for-fox-animated-film-epic/" target="_blank">Deadline.com</a>, Beyoncé has been cast as Queen Tara in the upcoming 3-D, CGI-animated film "Epic," a 20th Century Fox film from the makers of the hits "Ice Age" and "Rio."The film reportedly tells the tale of a teenage girl transported to a secret universe, where she finds herself dropped square in the middle of a battle between the forces of good and evil. She joins forces with "a rag-tag team of fun and whimsical characters" to save the world. "Epic" is slated to hit theaters on May 24, 2013.It's the first confirmed role for Beyoncé since she took time off for maternity leave, though she's also slated to star in the Clint Eastwood-directed remake of "A Star Is Born."Starring alongside Bey in the movie are the likes of Colin Farrell, Amanda Seyfried, Aziz Ansari and a pair of her fellow musicians, Pitbull and Aerosmith frontman/"American Idol" judge Steven Tyler. Johnny Knoxville, Jason Sudeikis and Judah Friedlander round out the cast.Josh Hutcherson is also set to appear alongside Beyoncé in the film. Maybe <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a>'s fans should call her Mother Terminator instead of Mother Monster. The unstoppable pop machine proved her mettle on Sunday night during the last of three shows in New Zealand when she was struck in the head with a pole and just kept on rocking.Videos of the incident <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dw9ob2mfUdk&feature=player_embedded" target="_blank">posted online</a> show a male backup dancer accidentally hitting Gaga in the head with a metal set piece while trying to take move it off the stage. Gaga, who bent down to pick up a prop machine gun during the performance of "Judas," staggered a bit and rubbed her head before briefly walking off the stage. But, a short time later, she was right back at it, performing 16 more songs before calling it a night.Later in the gig, she told the audience, "I want to apologize. I did hit my head and I think I may have a concussion. But don't you worry, I will finish this show." The singer's make-up artist, Tara Savelo, <a href="https://twitter.com/TaraSavelo/status/211820859176919040" target="_blank">tweeted</a> about the incident on Sunday, writing, "Gaga has a concussion but she is going to be okay. "It sometimes makes people feel better about themselves to put other people down or make fun of them or maybe make mockery of their work," she said in a video of the speech posted on <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJV1JodhFdQ&feature=player_embedded" target="_blank">YouTube</a> in which she speaks in general terms about knocking down others to make yourself feel better. I've been watching a lot of HGTV since coming to LA. My favorite shows are House Hunters and House Hunters International. There's also another show I like to watch called For Rent, but only because it makes me angry.

When it comes to apartments/homes, I think living in New York for the past eleven years has made me bitter because there was this whiny broad on For Rent a few nights ago who was looking at a huge place—A HUGE PLACE—and was like, "There's no place for a dining room table..."

B*TCH, YOU'RE LUCKY TO GET A KITCHEN IN NEW YORK.

I hated her.

Now there's some stupid lady on House Hunters who wants a townhouse with a fireplace that she can turn on with a light switch. IT HAS TO BE A LIGHT SWITCH because she doesn't want to bend down and flip a switch on the floor.

WHO DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE?

Anyway, I know my LA update is WAY overdue (and truth be told I wrote a long one last week but for some reason it didn't save so I lost the whole thing and I was so angry that I just said, "Ah, f*ck it," and closed the computer instead of rewriting) but to give you a quick update, I AM SO HAPPY HERE. I MEAN, I'M REALLY, REALLY HAPPY. And I think living here and watching HGTV—both of these things combined—has made me realize that New York was just beating me down. I mean, the fireplace lady—yes, she's an idiot. But there's nothing wrong with wanting a dining room table. Why did I get so mad at that lady?

Since being here, at least once a day I ask myself why I have lived in New York for so long. (It's like I had Stockholm Syndrome or something.) CALIFORNIA IS AWESOME. It's like the promised land. It's sunny all the time and there are birds and flowers everywhere. I have space out here. I have a sofa on the patio out here. I HAVE A SOFA OUTSIDE. I haven't seen one rat since I've been here. But hummingbirds? THEY ZIP BY MY HEAD EVERY DAY. I am so happy.

I'm supposed to go back to New York in November, but truth be told, I'm not sure I will.

A photo of the bottle for <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a>'s first-ever fragrance, Fame, leaked on Wednesday, but rather than lash out at excited fashion editors and bloggers for putting the design out there ahead of schedule, Mother Monster took to her <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga" target="_blank">Twitter</a> to open up a bit about the perfume."Looks like photos of my perfume are being leaked. Oh you fashion editors I could just crinkle my hands at you!" she wrote, before posting her own photo of the bottle. The container is deep purple/black with a gold, spiked top. (How very Mother Monster!) The front of the box indicates that it is a "black fluid."Gaga then tweeted the back of the box, which describes what all her Little Monsters will smell like when they wear it. "You just get sort of the after feeling of sex from the semen and the blood is sort of primal. MTV News dissects how Drake, Nicki Minaj, Big Sean and Ludacris ended up on Bieber's new album.

For that reason, while Bieber remains the star of the release, it's hard not to hear the ladies and gentlemen who worked with the 18-year-old. The collaborations stand as one of the hallmarks of the album.<img src="http://www.mtv.com/shared/promoimages/bands/b/bieber_justin/infographic_6_degrees/sixdegrees.jpg"><a href="/news/articles/1687691/justin-bieber-believe-album-details.jhtml">Believe</a> sounds like a who's who of music's A-list elite, who give Bieber the backup he needs to make a <a href="/news/articles/1687569/justin-bieber-live-evolution.jhtml">more mature musical statement</a>. With names like Big Sean, Nicki Minaj, Drake and his old pal Ludacris all making cameos, their appearances are highlighted by production credits with pop and hip-hop masters like Diplo, Rodney Jerkins, the Messengers, Mike Posner, Max Martin and Hit-Boy.Looking at the roster of talent who wanted to work with the maturing pop stud, you find they are mostly artists and producers who have not only been circling Bieber for some time, but also each other.In fact, it's easy to connect these folks in six degrees of separation: Drake and Nicki Minaj are no strangers to working with one another, having appeared most recently on "Make Me Proud" off Drake's Take Care. Nicki has also hooked up with Hit-Boy for several tracks on her Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. And, Hit-Boy's association with G.O.O.D. Music was famously catalogued on Jay-Z's and Kanye West's "N---as in Paris," which makes him a close, personal friend of Big Sean. Big Sean's Believe track, "As Long As You Love Me," got the production treatment from Rodney Jerkins, who previously worked with Ludacris on his song "What Them Girls Like," which brings us back to Bieber: Bieber and Luda originally laid the foundation for a beautiful friendship on the teen's defining tune "Baby."Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, explained the generation of all of the collaborations to MTV News:"Kanye was like, 'You should get Big Sean on that record.' And we're close with Sean, and Sean just jumped on there. It was very natural," Braun recalled. "Luda, of course, we did 'Baby.' We played 'All Around the World,' and we were like, 'Who would make sense?' And Justin's like, 'Luda would kill it.'"Nicki was getting on another one of our records, and then we did 'Beauty and the Beat,' and she heard it, and she was like, 'I want to get on that.' And, actually, we were gonna put Usher on it at first, but then we heard Nicki's verse, and we were like, 'Damn.' "Of course, those collaborations came up a bit more spur of the moment, but there's one that had been long in-the-works. "The Drake thing is something he and Drake have been talking about for like two years," Braun said. "And then they finally went into the studio, and they wrote that song together. ... I'm glad that 'Right Here' came about. ... Drake was like, 'I don't want to do just a rap song. I want to sing with you, do a song for the ladies.' <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a> was out to make a statement with his latest album, and he seems to have achieved that. On his seventh studio effort, <a href="/news/articles/1686990/usher-looking-4-myself-evolution.jhtml">Looking 4 Myself</a>, the R&B star broadened his horizons, taking a chance on some new producers, which resulted in a unique — what he calls <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/03/30/ushers-looking-for-myself-album-june/">"revolutionary pop"</a> — sound.Teaming up with DJ/producers <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/swedish_house_mafia/artist.jhtml">Swedish House Mafia</a> and Salaam Remi, Usher enriched his genre-breaking sound on this album, especially with the artistic and sultry first single, <a href="/news/articles/1682000/climax-usher-diplo.jhtml">"Climax,"</a> produced by Diplo.<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Usher Wanted To 'Challenge' Himself On 'Looking 4 Myself'" id="vid:789774.id:1686957" width="415" height="255"></div>"I never would have imagined that me and Diplo would have created as much incredible music as we did," Usher recently told MTV News. "However, I felt like he could get it, and just ... the nights of going through the ideas and him being very humble in his approach. To be as successful as he is musically ... he's probably one of the most humble people that I've ever met and will sit there — I'm talking until 6 o'clock in the morning — off a melody that we've been working on all day, no words, just melody, and still be patient and still come back with a very positive vibe the next day."Usher also went back to producers he has worked with in the past including <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/will_i_am/artist.jhtml">will.i.am</a>, Rico Love and <a href="/news/articles/1685352/usher-looking-4-myself-scream.jhtml">Max Martin</a>. And with the massive success of last year's <a href="/news/articles/1674782/usher-david-guetta-without-you.jhtml">"Without You,"</a> many were hoping that <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/guetta_david/artist.jhtml">David Guetta</a> would collaborate on Looking 4 Myself. Well, fear not, fans, as Usher and Guetta have gone back into the studio together for what Usher promises will be another hit record."Well, there is another crazy record, that he, I and Luda [Ludacris] worked on," Usher said. "I can't tell you too much about it. I'll tell you as much as he has: It's incredible, it's crazy."When we caught up with <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/ludacris/artist.jhtml">Ludacris</a> recently at the <a href="/news/articles/1686997/ludacris-bonnaroo-2012.jhtml">Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival</a>, he revealed that this new track will actually be featured on his upcoming album, <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/03/13/ludacris-ludaversal-album-due-september/">Ludaversal</a>, which drops in September."That is definitely the track, absolutely," Ludacris said. "I can't tell you anything else, but that's it. That's all you need to know for now."

<a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> apparently wants to go shopping in preparation for her next concert in Bangkok — for a fake Rolex.At least that's what she told her 24 million Twitter followers upon her arrival in Bangkok on Wednesday (May 30). "I just landed in Bangkok baby! Ready for 50,000 screaming Thai monsters. I wanna get lost in a lady market and buy fake Rolex."<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga Will Bring a 'Personal' Touch To 'Born This Way' Tour" id="vid:717952" width="415" height="255"></div>The tweet sparked instantaneous uproar on various social media and web forums, as many local residents felt the comment was insulting, abrasive and generally damaging to the reputation of Thailand. An official at the ministry's Intellectual Property Department recently told Reuters that: "Lady Gaga is a representative of the U.S. and the U.S. puts pressure on smaller countries to promote the protection of intellectual property," adding that "she should tell her fans that they shouldn't use fake goods."The controversial message has also been addressed by members of Thailand's music industry. Thai DJ Suharit Siamwalla responded by tweeting: "We are more civilized than you think," then added that he now plans to boycott Gaga's show on Friday.It seems that Mother Monster just can't seem to stay out of trouble as her Born This Way Ball makes its way across Asia. The Thailand controversy comes almost immediately after she had to <a href="/news/articles/1685092/lady-gaga-cancels-show-indonesia.jhtml">cancel a show in Indonesia</a>, and then responded to various <a href="/news/articles/1685564/lady-gaga-islam-threat-indonesia-concert.jhtml">Islamic threats surrounding that show</a>.Not all fans have taken umbrage with Gaga's latest comments. Peta2 is bestowing awards including Most Animal-Friendly Pop/Hip-Hop Artist to celebs for their support of animal rights.

PETA's youth division, peta2, is giving props to celebs like <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/kesha_/artist.jhtml">Ke$ha</a> and "Glee" star Lea Michele at this year's <a href="http://features.peta2.com/libby-awards-2011/?utm_campaign=1211%20Libbys%20Nominees%20Press%20Pitches&utm_source=peta2%20Pitch&utm_medium=Media#PeopleAndMusic" target="_blank">Libby Awards</a> for their efforts in support of animal rights.The Biebs, who appeared in a <a href="/news/articles/1656302/justin-bieber-peta-ad.jhtml">campaign</a> for the organization at the top of the year using Bieber-fied catch-phrases like "My world includes passion for animals, yours should too" and "Animals can make u smile. Adopt from your local shelter," is taking on fellow animal-loving pop star Ke$ha and rappers k-os and Waka Flocka Flame in the Most Animal-Friendly Pop/Hip-Hop Artist category. Ke$ha appeared in an ad campaigning against the slaughter of Canadian seals.Michele, who speaks out against the mistreatment of carriage horses in New York City, faces off against "Jackass" star Steve-O, Cobra Starship's leading man and peta2's Sexiest Vegetarian Gabe Saporta, and "Victorious" star Daniella Monet in the Top Animal-Friendly Celebrity category.The Ready Set, Tokio Hotel, Hellogoodbye and the Swellers are all up for Most Animal-Friendly Band. Ke$ha and Tokio are also up for Best peta2 ad along with Social Distortion frontman Mike Ness and Yelle.The Libby (as in "Liberation") Awards will be decided on January 17 by fan votes as well as peta2. Voting ends December 23."Our nominees have all worked hard to shine their spotlights on a variety of important animal issues," peta2 Division Manager Marta Holmberg said about the nominees, which honors animal-friendly people and products. "As our accomplished stars demonstrate, compassion isn't just a virtue — it's also a road to success."
