Justin Bieber Confirms Next Single

Singer will drop Big Sean collabo, 'As Long as You Love Me,' in July.

<a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> has officially picked his next single off <a href="/news/articles/1688265/justin-bieber-after-believe.jhtml">Believe.</a> The singer will release his Big Sean collabo, <a href="/news/articles/1687783/justin-bieber-big-sean-true-g.jhtml">"As Long as You Love Me,"</a> to radio on July 9, <a href="http://www.billboard.com/news/justin-bieber-s-next-single-as-long-as-you-1007426352.story#/news/justin-bieber-s-next-single-as-long-as-you-1007426352.story" target="_blank">Billboard.com </a> reports.The song is the first official follow-up to his single "Boyfriend" and has already seen some movement on the charts after Bieber released it as a <a href="/news/articles/1687112/justin-bieber-big-sean-as-long-as-you-love-me.jhtml">promo single on June 11</a> in the lead-up to his June 19 album release. It charted at #21 on the Hot 100, banking 168,000 downloads. People may not know that," Big Sean told MTV News about working with the 18-year-old on the Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins-produced track. "He is a good dude, man. And I ain't toning down nothing. I'm diverse — I can write raps to any type of song."MTV News recently chatted with Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, about the album's potential next single, and he shared that "As Long as You Love Me" was at the top of the list of candidates to get the official single treatment."We haven't picked the next single," he said. "We're gonna see how different songs react off the album. 'As Long as You Love Me' [with Big Sean] is getting a lot of love, so is 'All Around the World' [with Ludacris]. So is 'Die in Your Arms.' 'Beauty and the Beat' is coming with the album. We're gonna see what the next single is. We're gonna figure that out."In addition to preparing to shoot a video for the track, Bieber is also still in promo mode, spreading the word about his album, as well as prepping for his world tour, which kicks off in September in the U.S."The tour starts at the end of September ... by the end of 2013 we're gonna hit the whole world," Braun explained. "He has been watching a tremendous amount of Michael Jackson concerts from the '80s and '90s. And he has been talking to me about how Michael incorporated magic and pyro and reveals and he wants to bring in that. [But] still do that acoustic thing, but he wants to take it to a whole new level."It's just really exciting," he continued. "Nothing makes him happier than being onstage. So it's gonna be fun to get back onto the road. I think he was an amazing performer before, but his level of dance and musicianship and his range [has grown]. He's a veteran now. Usher's Looking 4 Myself: The Reviews Are In!

Critics are mostly positive about the new release, with one calling it, 'at its best, a truly next-level soul album.'

Given the incredibly fast-paced, blink-and-you-miss-it, flash-in-the-pan, hit-singles-or-bust state of the music industry these days, career longevity is almost as difficult for an artist to achieve as fame and recognition itself. R&B superstar <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a> is clearly an exception, as Tuesday (June 12) marks the release of the seventh studio album in his 18-year career. <a href="/news/articles/1686990/usher-looking-4-myself-evolution.jhtml">Usher has said</a> that Looking 4 Myself represents an "evolution" for him in several ways, and judging from the positive reviews, critics seem to agree. Without further ado, let's take a tour through the Looking 4 Myself reviews.<big>The Story of "Myself"</big> "To the list of people who've had mind-altering experiences at Coachella, you can add Usher. In April he was a surprise guest at the music festival, and he says his seventh album, Looking 4 Myself, was inspired by the eclectic acts he saw there, including Euro-disco champs Swedish House Mafia (who produced two songs for L4M) and Aussie synth-rockers Empire of the Sun (who guest on the title track). Even Usher's new look off stage — the Buddy Holly glasses, the facial scruff — suggests that he's warming to indie music. Did he go into Coachella as a Top 40 guy and come out a hipster? Well, he's not exactly taking a stand against party-rock anthems here. With the release of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a>'s seventh studio album, <a href="/news/articles/1686990/usher-looking-4-myself-evolution.jhtml">Looking 4 Myself,</a> the veteran R&B star reveals a personal evolution that fittingly corresponds with today's pop-music appetite. In addition to the sumptuous soul one expects from Mr. Raymond, perfectly exhibited on songs like "Lessons for the Lover" and "Dive," it's evident that Ursh has a serious love of dance music. And after his euphoric collaboration on <a href="/news/articles/1670301/usher-david-guetta-without-you.jhtml">"Without You"</a> with EDM crossover star David Guetta, dance-music fans should be elated to find that in his three-year journey of discovery for Looking, Ursh worked with some of the biggest names in EDM.<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Swedish House Mafia Produce 'Numb & Euphoria' For Usher" id="vid:791038" width="415" height="255"></div>Before the album's release, fans were treated to the first single with producer Diplo, underscoring his versatility yet again in the <a href="/news/articles/1682000/climax-usher-diplo.jhtml">soft-synthy "Climax."</a>Of course, the revelation that Mr. Raymond would be putting out a double dose of Swedish House Mafia productions, "Numb" and album closer "Euphoria," was big news, too. Alesso appears in the production credits with <a href="/news/articles/1660513/swedish-house-mafia-masquerade-hotel.jhtml">Axwell</a>, <a href="/news/articles/1681804/miami-music-week-size-records-steve-angello.jhtml">Steve Angello</a> and <a href="/news/articles/1678633/swedish-house-mafia-sebastian-ingrosso-alesso.jhtml">Sebastian Ingrosso</a> on "Numb," which has a lighter, simpler beat than one typically expects from the Swedes. This is certainly in contrast to the whopping banger "Euphoria," which won't need too much retooling before being added to a SHM set.MTV News caught up with Angello this weekend at Las Vegas dance-music mecca XS Nightclub, where he revealed just how these two gems came to be."We did the [2010 American Music Awards performance] with Usher," Angello said. "And then he came to hang out with us in Ibiza. [After that] we were in Atlanta and we were all working together for five days. And then we brainstormed and wrote the records from start to finish."As Swedish House Mafia fans are well aware, the holy trinity of house are extremely selective about whom they work with. But the chance to work with a time-tested R&B legend they respect was an opportunity they relished."He's always been a great artist," Angello continued. "He always knows what he wants. Good collaboration, all in all. For us, we'd rather work with someone that we respect than to just work with a big name. It was the same with Pharrell [Williams, on <a href="/news/articles/1643772/pharrell-williams-calls-swedish-house-mafia-necessary-rock-stars.jhtml">SHM's "One (Your Name)"</a>] and Tinie Tempah [on <a href="/news/articles/1647200/axwell-hes-hyped-play-new-yorks-electric-zoo-fest.jhtml">"Miami 2 Ibiza"</a>]."While Angello reminded us that "Numb" and "Euphoria" are Usher records, not Swedish House Mafia joints, they ought to hold you SHM fans over until Ax, Seb and Steve deliver their upcoming Australia-inspired <a href="/news/articles/1682265/swedish-house-mafia-single-australia.jhtml">"Emotional" single</a>, which is almost complete.

"I look at Gaga, and I think, 'How does she do it?' I talk to her mum and dad about it. They worry," he said."She is frail, and she doesn't eat when she should do, and she's a girl, and it's tougher for a girl. She works really hard," John continued. "She will be in Denmark one night and Saudi Arabia the next. Justin Bieber Shuts Down Radio Interview Over 'Mom' Joke

Bieber ends chat with Mojo in the Morning when asked about the possibility of One Direction's Harry Styles seducing his mother.

<a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> ended a recent interview with radio show Mojo in the Morning after the show's host, Mojo, asked if he was afraid One Direction's Harry Styles might end up seducing his mother, given his <a href="/news/articles/1683999/one-direction-harry-styles-celebrity-crushes.jhtml">penchant for older women</a>. It was a question the 18-year-old pop star didn't find amusing."I mean, definitely somewhat [I am friends with One Direction now]. They were in town a while ago and they came over and stuff, but, yeah, they're good kids," he said when asked about his friendship with the Brit boy banders, before adding, "I don't think you should worry about me [and my mom with Harry Styles] — worry about your mom, bro."<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Justin Bieber Proving His Haters Wrong With 'Good Music'" id="vid:793035.id:1687833" width="415" height="255"></div>Mojo then noted that his mother had passed away, before Bieber hung up on the call. The interview has since been taken off the <a href="http://www.mojointhemorning.com/pages/show_archive.html?feed=184218&article=10238007" target="_blank">show's official site</a>, but found its way onto <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABf0tVHCFXU&feature=youtu.be" target="_blank">YouTube</a>. It wasn't the only contentious part of the interview. Prior to that, Bieber seemed to be annoyed that Mojo had compared his <a href="/news/articles/1684462/justin-bieber-boyfriend-nsync.jhtml">single, "Boyfriend," to the musical stylings of Justin Timberlake</a>."Man, that's crazy 'cause our voices sound nothing alike. I mean, I'm not trying to sound like anyone. Saying I sound like someone else is not really a compliment. ... I think if you were to say I heard some Justin Timberlake-esque things in your sound I would take that as a compliment," he said."Justin Timberlake is definitely really talented and is similar because he's white and he's singing pop, R&B," he continued, mirroring a comment his manager Scooter Braun recently made about <a href="/news/articles/1688037/justin-bieber-vs-justin-timberlake.jhtml">the comparison</a>. "I think we both have the type of edge. I definitely want to have my own lane and not be compared. But I think he is super, super-talented."On Saturday, Mojo tweeted that he had been suspended in response to the interview; Clear Channel, which broadcasts his show, said in a statement to industry trade magazine <a href="http://www.radioink.com/Article.asp?id=2485628&spid=24698" target="_blank">Radio Ink</a> that "As a policy we don't comment on personnel matters." Clear Channel had yet to respond to MTV News' request for comment by press time. I went to the premiere on Tuesday and it was the coolest thing ever. First, the movie is AMAZING and Chris Evans is a superstar. Second, there were so many damn people there it was insane. I have been to movie premieres in New York before and they were nothing like this. I mean, they closed down Hollywood Boulevard. I would've taken photos to show you, but the invite said to leave phones in the car. But here's a photo of me in my cool Captain America 3D glasses:

Beyonce Serenades Michelle Obama, Cements Comeback In Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey — The "year of 4" continues.Four months after giving birth to her first child — an arrival announced last August <a href="/news/articles/1669858/beyonce-vma-performance.jhtml">at the MTV VMAs</a> — <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a> returned to the stage Saturday night, on the second of a four-night run in this East Coast resort city. And it was a spectacular fitting her rising icon status.<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Beyonce Gets Back To Business, Kicks Off Summer!" id="vid:785342" width="415" height="255"></div>So what kinds of clues get 20somethings calling you "the greatest performer" of your generation? Well, it's in the details. For one, Revel, the sparkling, 6.3-million-square-foot beachfront destination that played host to <a href="/news/articles/1685877/beyonce-memorial-day-atlantic-city-concert.jhtml">Beyoncé's comeback</a>, devoted a channel on its guest-room flat-screen TVs solely to B-related content: no weather broadcasts, nary a "Housewife" and no commercial breaks; just videos, all-star performances and more, all through Memorial Day weekend. It was evident in the distance traveled, too, with fans telling MTV News they'd made cross-country pilgrimages, while still others came from as far as Tokyo and South Africa to hail Queen B.But those are just the hints, peripheral proof. The presence of First Lady Michelle Obama at last night's concert left little doubt that the little girl from Houston, who joined a girl group and then struck out on her own, had seen another benchmark in her relatively young career. After <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/04/13/michelle-obama-thanks-beyonce-for-letter">exchanging letters</a> in recent months, with each calling the other a role model for girls, Obama turned up in a sleeveless green sheath waving like royalty from a balcony in Ovation Hall.A little after 10 p.m., as the pounding opening march from "End of Time" kicked in, Beyoncé appeared in silhouette; the sequins were hard to make out but the wind-blown mane was impossible to miss. Finally, B, stunning in hot pink Stuart Weitzman heels and a beaded body suit, appeared on the massive stage backed by her dancers."Atlantic City, snap your fingers," she commanded, launching into "Love on Top." Without missing a step of the New Edition-inspired choreography, B powered through the song's modulations in an extended vocal showcase. Then she took an exaggerated pause, as if to catch her breath (or to bask in the adulation?), before belting out a final coda. The 30-year-old's comeback was officially under way.Pushing through hits from her debut solo effort, including "Naughty Boy" and the dancehall-infused "Baby Boy," and Sasha Fierce smashes like "Diva," B defied all post-partum laws as she kept pace with Frank Gatson's acrobatic dance style. ("Y'all don't know how hard I had to work. I had to lose 60 pounds!" she laughed to the crowd later. "They had me eating lettuce.") And just as songs like "Single Ladies" and "Run the World (Girls)" are meant to serve as empowerment manuals for women, it became clear last night that Beyoncé's choreography is meant to do the same: a series of sensual quickstep moves that revolve around the hips and legs. It showed in the Fosse-style swing and formations on songs like "Get Me Bodied," and the strut-heavy footwork on "Freakum Dress.""Sasha Fierce disappeared, but y'all bringing her back," B joked midway through the euphoric two-hour set.For one of our favorite numbers, "Party," the 4 singer donned full-on showgirl regalia in a heady rendition that saw confetti coming from the roof and dice-shaped beach balls being tossed through the crowd as dancers in large feathered headdresses magically turned up in the aisles.There were ballads, of course, at Ovation Hall, the more memorable among them a tribute to Whitney Houston and a cover of Lauryn Hill's classic "Ex Factor." Ke$ha Previews 'Supernatural' New Track

It's not exactly <a href="/news/articles/1663946/kesha-new-album.jhtml">"balls-out irreverent rock and roll"</a> — quite the opposite, in fact — but with one 40-second snippet, Ke$ha is serving notice that her new album is most definitely going to be a departure.On Wednesday (June 6), frequent Ke$h collaborator Dr. Luke gave fans <a href="http://soundcloud.com/drluke/snippet-super" target="_blank">a sneak peek</a> at a song from her long-in-the-works new album, an all-too-brief preview that features her cooing about a lover's prowess — "When you take my body to the stars/ I believe it/ Boy, this love is supernatural/ Can you feel it?" over a bed of shimmering synths and knotty bass that gradually builds to a twisting, rapidly contrasting electronic break.<iframe width="100%" height="166" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="http://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F48805816&auto_play=false&show_artwork=true&color=ff7700"></iframe>It's the kind of high-gloss production she largely avoided on her breakthrough <a href="/news/articles/1629566/keha-partying-pop-genius-weve-all-been-waiting.jhtml">Animal</a> album, and while we certainly can't figure out how the track fits in with her other collaborations (she's reportedly worked with everyone from <a href="/news/articles/1685827/kesha-flaming-lips-tattoo.jhtml">Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne</a> to Iggy Pop on the still-untitled new album), the new track certainly showcases her maturation. And thanks to Ke$h herself, at least we know what the new track is about: having sex with ghosts.Yes, just hours after Dr. Luke leaked the snippet, Ke$ha took to her Twitter account to mock-chastise her producer, <a href="https://twitter.com/keshasuxx/status/210428157554196480" target="_blank">writing</a>: "You leaked my song about me having sexy time with a ghost, @thedoctorluke," she wrote. BET Awards Nominations: Kanye West, Beyonce Lead The Pack

Expect lots of drama, plenty of laughs and possibly even a few superheroes in the building when <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/30855/personmain.jhtml">Samuel L. Jackson</a> hosts the 2012 BET Awards on July 1, live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. On Tuesday (May 22), BET announced the nominees for their 2012 awards show and even confirmed performances by <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/brown__chris__18_/artist.jhtml">Chris Brown</a> and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/minaj__nicki/artist.jhtml">Nicki Minaj</a> (though there was no official word on whether the Hulk will attend).BET president Stephen Hill held a press conference in New York City on Tuesday, and with the help of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/big_sean/artist.jhtml">Big Sean</a>, DJ Khaled, A$AP Rocky, Diggy, Mindless Behavior and Melanie Fiona, he spilled the beans about the big show. Samuel L. wasn't in attendance, but "The Avengers" star sent a pre-taped message promising that the show will be "too big to miss."<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Big Sean Got Grandma's Support For BET Awards" id="vid:771561" width="415" height="255"></div>Kanye West leads the nominations with seven, including two Video of the Year nods for <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/02/09/niggas-in-paris-video-jay-z-kanye-west">the Throne's "N---as in Paris"</a> and "Otis." Beyoncé notched six nominations, while hubby Jay-Z earned himself five noms. Big Sean was particularly excited about his three nominations, including his look in the Best Male Hip Hop Artist category, where he will square off against Drake, J. Cole, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Young Jeezy."It's perfect. My grandma gonna be watchin', my mom, my family, the whole city," Sean told MTV News shortly after the press conference. "It's just tight that I can represent those people, everybody who had that dream, everybody who used to ride to school [listening to] their idols, now I'm with them. It's just tight that I can show people that it's possible."Sean broke through last year when he dropped his debut LP Finally Famous. Next, the "Marvin & Chardonnay" MC will appear on G.O.O.D Music's Cruel Summer compilation and then follow up with his sophomore album.Sean isn't the only big dog being honored at the awards show. Chris Brown, Usher and Bruno Mars are among the nominees in the Best Male R&B category, while Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige and Rihanna will duke it out in the Best Female category. While <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a> was working on his seventh studio album, <a href="/news/articles/1685178/usher-looking-4-myself.jhtml">Looking 4 Myself</a> , he was determined to take fans on a musical journey and <a href="/news/articles/1686990/usher-looking-4-myself-evolution.jhtml">experiment with sounds</a>  he'd never explored before.So, in addition to teaming up with Diplo for the seductive lead single, <a href="/news/articles/1685264/usher-climax.jhtml">"Climax,"</a> , as well as EDM giants Swedish House Mafia, Usher said he sought out producer Salaam Remi because he was very interested in doing a song with Remi protege, <a href="/news/articles/1667799/amy-winehouse-dead.jhtml">Amy Winehouse</a>,  before the singer died unexpectedly died at age 27 in July 2011. "We met and we talked about it for a moment when I saw her," Usher said of a brief sit-down with the troubled crooner to discuss the potential soul summit.<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Usher Had Plans To Record With Amy Winehouse" id="vid:789773.id:1686957" width="415" height="255"></div>"There was a few conversations that took place, but we never quite made it to it ... I would have loved it." One of those talks occurred while the unlikely duo were shopping at the ritzy London department store Selfridges. "I was shopping and she was doing some private shopping and she came out and we kind of crossed each other's [paths] and, [I was like] 'Is that Amy Winehouse?' ... And before you know it we talked and exchanged information and I invited her to a show ... and she didn't come."Winehouse was out of the country at the time and sent a relative to the gig in her stead, but that missed connection has stuck with Usher to this day. "It could have been one of the most incredible records ever," he said. "A voice like that comes once in a lifetime."Usher still wanted to get in the studio with Remi, and though it was a hard time for the producer, the pair met in New York and worked it out. "The style and the sound that we worked, I felt would definitely compliment what he does as a producer and what I have to offer."The story that the two explored on "Sins of My Father" was a new one for Usher, who had never spoken about his feelings for his dad in song before.
