Beyonce's 'Countdown' Video: Watch A Sneak Peek!

Retro-tinged 4 clip premieres Thursday.
By Jocelyn Vena

Beyoncé in her "Countdown" video

Let the countdown begin! Beyoncé's retro-tinged "Countdown" video premieres Thursday, and we already have our hands on a 30-second tease.

The clip features a close-up of Queen B hamming it up for the camera before panning out to reveal a look that pays homage to both Michael Jackson and Audrey Hepburn thanks to her short bangs, cropped pants, black turtleneck and exposed socks. Beyoncé stands in front of a black-and-white striped wall as she moves her arms like a clock.

Right before the Boyz II Men-sampling countdown begins, Beyoncé kicks up the swagger, curling her lips for the lines, "If you leave me, you out of your mind."

The mod fashion continues with B shimmying around in a black-and-white color-block outfit with vibrant eye makeup. As the tease closes, Beyoncé shows off her pregnant profile and then appears in three different bodysuits accessorized with a black-and-white hat.

When MTV News caught up with Boyz II Men last week, they gave B props for sampling their "Uhh Ahh" in the single. "I thought it was very clever," Wanya Morris told MTV News. "She's a clever artist. She's one of the best in the business right now. I guess you can say we finally got our duet with Beyoncé."

"Countdown" is the fourth video from Beyoncé's latest album, 4, having already dropped clips for "Run the World (Girls)," "Best Thing I Never Had" and "1+1." B also banked a video for "Party" in August that has yet to be released.

What are you expecting from Beyoncé's new video? Let us know in the comments!

Beyonce Talks Artistic Freedom In Behind-The-Scenes Footage

'What do you do after 16 Grammys and millions of records sold? Whatever makes you happy,' singer says in new video.

Just two weeks before she took to the VMA stage on Sunday night, Beyoncé dazzled in a four-night set at New York's Roseland Ballroom. Little did anyone know then that the singer was keeping a big secret: that she and hubby Jay-Z are expecting their first child together.

Now fans are getting an insider's view of what it took to put those shows together. "What do you do after 16 Grammys and millions of records sold?" Beyoncé asks in the second of two behind-the-scenes videos that just hit the Internet. "Whatever makes you happy," she answers.

During the shows, Beyoncé recalled the highlights of her career during a mind-bending medley of oldies. "That concept is really smart and emotional and you see me as a human being more than just music ... let's tell the story. It's more intimate; it's cooler than me just talking," she explains in the video.

Relive Beyoncé's big night at the VMAs in photos!

With more behind-the-scenes videos expected to drop, Beyoncé says that she wanted to perform this way because "I feel like I know who I am and I don't have to put myself in a box and no one can define me. All I have to do is have fun and have artistic freedom to do whatever I want."

In previously released footage, some of the people who helped shape the show also talked about how B was preparing for the gigs. Bibi, who played lead guitar, said, "She's listening to her inner voice right now and doing what she wants to do. I think she took risks. I think she's being more authentic and doing what she wants to do instead of doing what people expect, which is good."

Beyoncé and Jay-Z celebrate their big news backstage.

Nick, the lighting designer for the shows, explained the visual concept for them. The stage setup was pretty simple — just Beyoncé surrounded by her band and backup dancers, singing her heart out. "The big moments on the album will make the look from the lighting really big, and then when it comes down to songs like '1+1,' it'll be one spotlight," he explained.

The bottom line, according to the show's musical director, Kim Burse, is that "this project is the most mature project for Beyoncé because to be able to be in an intimate setting like this is an amazing thing."

Justin Bieber Rents Staples Center For Date With Selena Gomez

Couple ate a steak dinner and watched 'Titanic' alone in the L.A. arena.

Justin Bieber may only be 17, but the kid has crazy mature boyfriend skills when it comes to doing special things for his girl Selena Gomez. Case in point: The dynamic duo went out for a decent-enough date on Friday night to see Gomez's pal Demi Lovato play a show at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

Then, according to TMZ, he surprised Gomez after the concert with an even bigger show right next door at the Staples Center, the 20,000-seat home of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Check out photos of Justin and Selena.

After 11 p.m., Bieber told Gomez, "follow me," and the pair walked through an underground tunnel that connects the two arenas. As they walked into the empty building, all Gomez saw was a table for two set up on the floor with a steak and pasta dinner from the venue's fancy restaurant, the Lexus Club.

How much would a private Staples Center date set Justin Bieber back? We crunched the numbers!

The major date was inspired by a scene in the Adam Sandler flick "Mr. Deeds," in which Sandler's character surprises his love interest, Winona Ryder, with a date for two at Madison Square Garden. After the superstar couple's meal, things got even more romantic when "Titanic" began playing on a screen in the arena.

According to reports, Bieber got the venue for free as a thank-you from the bosses at Staples for his string of three previous sell-outs there. After making things way harder for his fellow man with his big-balling gesture, Biebs had a message for all the dudes out there who aren't pulling their weight when it comes to the chivalry department. "Romance isn't dead," he tweeted after his date. "Treat your lady right fellas."

Easy for you to say, dude.

What do you think of Justin's date idea for Selena? Tell us in the comments!

'Hobbit' Is Yet Another 'Boys Club' For Evangeline Lilly

'It's really chilled out and relaxed,' actress says of film's New Zealand set.
By Kara Warner

Even though the big-screen adaptation of "The Hobbit" is based on J. R. R. Tolkien's beloved book, everyone knows the movie version won't be an exact replica and that there will be a few surprises in store when the first film hits theaters next year. One of those surprises director Peter Jackson already announced is the addition of actress Evangeline Lilly, playing the newly created role of Woodland Elf Tauriel.

MTV News had a couple of minutes with the actress at the premiere of her new film "Real Steel" on Sunday night, and we snuck in a few "Hobbit" questions, asking for a progress update on the elf fight training she endured for the role.

"Elf fighting, let me just say something, recovering from labor is like recovering from a full-body injury, and I didn't realize to what extent that was true until I started training for elf fighting," revealed Lilly, who gave birth to her first child in May. "My hips don't move like they used to move, my back doesn't move like it used to move, my shoulders are sore every day. But it's fun."

The former "Lost" actress said she's also enjoying the "chilled out" atmosphere of filming in New Zealand, as well as being a part of yet another male-dominated cast.

"It's kind of, like, my M.O.," Lilly said about being one of few women on set. " 'Lost' was a boys club, 'The Hurt Locker' was a boys club, ['Real Steel'] was a boys club, and now 'The Hobbit' is a boys club. So I'm used to it. ... It's really chilled out and relaxed, and everyone is really down to earth and supportive."

Finally, we asked Lilly if she'd been able to glean any words of wisdom from Jackson's previous leading-lady elves, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel and Liv Tyler as Arwen in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

"I wish! I would love to talk to those women, and they're two women who I deeply admire," she said. "Cate Blanchett is in this film, and I missed her; we didn't cross paths. She was filming before I got there and was gone by the time I arrived.

"But the good thing is, I tried not to copy their performances," she added. "I really wanted to have something original, so I intentionally didn't go back and watch 'Rings' for that reason. I just want to create something new."

Check out everything we've got on "The Hobbit."

Rihanna Says She's No Role Model

'I just want to make music,' singer tells British Vogue.
By James Montgomery

Rihanna channels Marilyn Monroe on the cover of the new British Vogue, but inside the issue, she's talking about playing a different role: the badass mistress on display in hits like "S&M."

Because no matter what folks may think, Rihanna says that all her vamping — which apparently got so hot and heavy in her upcoming "We Found Love" video that it angered a farmer who owned the land the clip was being shot on — is just an act she puts on for her fans.

"That's not me. That's a part I play. You know, like it's a piece of art, with all these toys and textures to play with," she tells the magazine. "See, people ... they want me to be a role model just because of the life I lead. The things I say in my songs, they expect it of me, and [being a role model] became more of my job than I wanted it to be. But no, I just want to make music. That's it."

Rihanna added that, despite a past that included a father who reportedly struggled with substance abuse and an assault at the hands of then-boyfriend Chris Brown, she feels stronger now than ever and doesn't feel that her experiences make her any different from the millions of others who have dealt with broken homes and domestic abuse.

"I saw too much. I was way too mature for my age," she says. "Look, God doesn't give any more than you can handle. I had to get through a lot of ups and downs — big downs — and a lot of trial and error to get where I am now."

Kanye West Makes Paris Fashion Week Debut

West unveils womenswear collection before star-packed crowd, including Lindsay Lohan, Jared Leto and Ciara.
By James Montgomery

Kanye West made his Paris Fashion Week debut Saturday night (October 1), launching a womenswear line with a high-profile show that was sexy, swaggering and, of course, incredibly stylish.

Before an audience that included fashion heavyweights like Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour, designer Alexander Wang and photographer Terry Richardson -- not to mention celebs like Lindsay Lohan, Jared Leto and Ciara -- West paraded a host of different looks, from daringly cut dresses and color-block pants to body-hugging tracksuits and high-end hoodies.

West draped his models in flowing fabrics, leather and fur, propped them up on beaded stilettos and even gave each a matching "Yeezi" nameplate chain to wear on the catwalk. And for an artist to whom subtlety is often a foreign concept, West displayed an unerring attention to the tiny details, as evidenced by the collection's artfully beaded ensembles, knitted tops and even fur-covered backpacks -- all of which had the crowd murmuring with approval.

For a more detailed account of all the looks, check out the MTV Style blog, which kept a running diary of West's fashion debut.

Though it was his first-ever showing, West's bow was also one of the most-hyped events of Paris' annual fashion week, with bloggers hyping stories that he had spent 14,000 pounds on fabric and trimmings at London haberdasheries and speculating that his show would feature only the models he mentioned in his song "Christian Dior Denim Flow." The actual location for the show was kept a closely guarded secret, with invitations being mailed the day before the event, a move that only further added to the frenzy.

And given the buildup, it seemed only natural (and, in keeping with Fashion Week tradition) for West to start his show some 45 minutes after the supposed 9:30 p.m. start time. But that didn't seem to bother those lucky enough to gain entry into Paris' Lycee Henri IV (a posh secondary school taken over by West's team for the event), who chatted beneath soft purple lighting while waiting for the first models to walk.

At show's end, West emerged to applause, wearing a simple white T-shirt, black pants and a pair of Jordans. After taking his bow, he posed for photos backstage with his models, and speculation began that his collection (which doesn't yet have a name) might actually be called Yeezi, as the nameplates seemed to hint.

Jay-Z Throws A Carnival For College Kids' Scholarships

Jay's foundation set up the Ferris wheel in New York on Thursday to raise funds for university-bound students' scholarships.

NEW YORK — On Thursday night, Jay-Z hosted a carnival at the Hudson River Park pier for his Shawn Carter Foundation. But it wasn't all Ferris wheels and funnel cakes — unfortunately Momofuku doesn't make those. The event was called Making the Ordinary Extraordinary, and it sought to raise funds for college scholarships.

MTV News caught up with Mr. Carter at the event, where he said the evening was about having fun while raising money for a good cause. Jay said two of the worst things in life are a waste of talent and a person who applies him- or herself but is unable to advance due to financial hardship. He hoped this foundation would help ease such burdens and assist people in recognizing their potential.

"Just providing opportunity and seeing what people do with that opportunity. If you want to go further and you want to further your education, just giving someone that extra little push [so] that maybe you'll turn out to be someone special," Jay said.

Jay and his mother, Gloria Carter, started the foundation in 2002 to help those facing socioeconomic difficulties further their education at institutions of higher learning. The foundation started with one student earning a full ride through college and grew to offer 50 scholarships to students in 50 different states annually from 2003 to 2005. More than 750 students have been awarded scholarships totaling in excess of $1.1 million, and nearly 500 kids have taken part in the foundation's college tours — some even rode the bus with Jay's mom.

"My mom has been running this for a number of years," said Jay. "My mom gets on the bus and takes the kids and takes them to their orientations and she's been riding around the college. It's a real grassroots thing that she's been doing on her own, and I'm just really trying to help her expand it so we can help more people. It started out as a Brooklyn thing, and then it started as a New York thing, and now hopefully we can take it to a worldwide thing."

Lady Gaga Questions President Obama On Bullying

Mother Monster attended an Obama fundraiser over the weekend at home of Facebook COO.
By Gil Kaufman

Lady Gaga is not one to make a promise to her Little Monsters and not keep it. That explains why she raised her hand and asked President Obama a question about bullying at a Silicon Valley fundraising event for the Commander in Chief over the weekend at the home of Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg.

The $38,500-per-couple event for around 70 guests took place under a tent in Sandberg's yard and, according to ABC News, it's where Gaga made good on a Twitter vow she'd posted last Wednesday in reaction to the suicide of bullied teen Jamey Rodemeyer. Gaga — who turned heads in a black dress with a dramatically plunging back, extremely high heels, a blond upswept hairdo and a black veil covering the back of her hair — brought up the issue during the Q&A segment of the event.

Though a transcript of the exchange is not available, according to reports, she first thanked Obama for what he's done so far on the subject — which includes a forum held earlier this year about bullying and an "It Gets Better" video — and then read from what she described as a letter from a fan about the suicide of another Little Monster who had been bullied.

After congratulating the president on all of the things he's accomplished so far in his first term, Gaga made what was described as a "general plea" to everyone in the room, including the president, to do what they can to prevent bullying. Obama then reportedly thanked her, re-iterated his administration's anti-bullying work and spoke in general about the importance of values.

Gaga also reportedly had a bit of face time with Obama before dinner, when she walked through the photo line with her manager and spoke to the president for two minutes in a room full of other guests. The singer dedicated her song "Hair" to Rodemeyer at Saturday's iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas, speaking out in support of the gay teen who committed suicide last week after enduring years of bullying by his school peers.

Just days after the 14-year-old's death, Gaga was so shaken that she called on Obama to enact laws that would make bullying a hate crime. "The past days I've spent reflecting, crying, and yelling," she tweeted on Wednesday. "I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someone's life." She went further, posting Rodemeyer's "It Gets Better" video, and insisting that bullying "must become illegal. It is a hate crime."

It was then that she revealed she planned to meet with Obama to discuss the matter.

MTV's ongoing "A Thin Line" project provides stories and resources for anyone who believes they are being cyberbullied or who is looking for ways to stop harassment by digital means. And check out our story for more info on the results of a recent MTV/Associated Press study about the prevalence of digital abuse and cyberbullying among young people.

What do you think of Lady Gaga's activism on the bullying issue? We want to hear from you in the comments section.

Sarah Gadon Is New Class' 'Most Likely To Wear A Corset'

Roles in 'Dream House' and the upcoming 'Cosmopolis' set her up for a long career, especially in period pieces.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Sarah Gadon
Photo: Toby Canham/ Getty Images

Sarah Gadon has been acting for more than a decade, but now is really her time to shine.

This year alone, she appeared in David Cronenberg's Freudian flick "A Dangerous Method" and Mary Harron's "The Moth Diaries," and this week, she gets her scare on in "Dream House," alongside Daniel Craig, Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz.

Up next, Gadon, 24, re-teams with Cronenberg on the Robert Pattinson-starring "Cosmopolis." Her work in period pieces and her ethereal, striking looks certainly make her the perfect candidate to stay trapped in a time when women wore more restrictive clothing. That's why she's MTV Movies New Class' "Most Likely to Wear a Corset ... A Lot."

MTV: We're always looking for the next exciting talent, and it's not like you just started acting, so does it feel like a particularly exciting time where all that hard work is paying off?

Gadon: You go through different arcs in your career. I think when I was younger, I was very into the performing side of the industry. I came to acting through that way, and then having gone to university and studied cinema studies and watching tons of films and understanding film theory and making a conscious choice of working with auteur director marks a new chapter in my development as an artist.

MTV: You mentioned some of the directors, Mary and David, two geniuses, talented individuals; how do you build on that? Because that sets the bar high going forward.

Gadon: I think when you work with really wonderful directors who have a really strong vision, it lets you as an artist set the tone for your own career. So for me, it's not necessarily having that kind of notoriety. I'm interested in great work and working with people that have a singular vision, and I think the work dictates that.

MTV: Can you give me a sense of Elise [in "Cosmopolis"] and how she interacts with Rob's character?

Gadon: I think it's a really interesting film, and I don't want to give away too much, but I think in a really kind of pared-down version of the film, it's about a young millionaire who loses everything in the course of a day. And I play his new wife, so I'm one of the only characters that really kind of comes in and out of the story throughout the film. We have breakfast, lunch and dinner together, and those are going to be some interesting meals.

MTV: Is there someone to emulate?

Gadon:Yeah, of course there is. I think there are so many great actresses out there. I think Tilda Swinton is terribly interesting. I think she's fascinating. I love her work.

Beyonce, Lady Gaga Dominate Twitter Trends On VMA Night

Hashtags #whatwillgagawear and #DemiYouAreBeautiful also made an impact on Sunday.
By Kara Klenk

Lady Gaga at the 2011 VMAs

Just as predicted, the 2011 Video Music Awards generated even more buzz than last year, with over 3 million tweets sent from 8 p.m. ET at the start of the pre-show until the end of the West Coast broadcast, 11 p.m. PT. Which makes perfect sense when we're talking about a show in which Selena Gomez interviewed Justin Bieber, Britney and Gaga almost made out, and, oh yeah, Beyoncé announced her pregnancy!

Female artists definitely ruled Twitter this year. Bey's baby news made her the most tweeted-about celeb overall, with the first twitpic of her touching her pregnant stomach on the red carpet passing 600,000 views in six hours. In that same six-hour window, the VMA Twitter Tracker clocked the top subject as Nicki Minaj in the first hour, Adele in the next, and then Lady Gaga and Beyoncé alternating in the final hours. But the guys weren't far behind, with Jay-Z and Kanye West (a.k.a. the Throne), Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and Tyler, the Creator giving the ladies a run for their money.

Britney Spears talks about Jo Calderone after their onstage encounter.

For the entire duration of the VMAs, over half of the worldwide Twitter trends were VMA related, and at points they dominated eight or nine of the top 10 trends. Trends tended to coincide with a celeb's arrival (Wiz and Amber), a live interview (Selena and Justin) or the live performances (Adele). But some humorous trends emerged as well: The Karate Kid himself, Ralph Macchio, might have been surprised to see his name trending if he didn't tune in to see his doppelganger, Lady Gaga as Jo Calderone, appearing several times throughout the show. And Happy Trees trended briefly after Rick Ross appeared in a sketch in the show channeling the late painter and personalitya Bob Ross.

The trend #whatwillgagawear was one of the longest running of the evening, as was BEYONCE IS PREGNANT, which clearly called for caps, and #DemiYouAreBeautiful was a message to Demi Lovato from her many fans. Joe Jonas, Bruno Mars, Adele and Justin Bieber were all the subject of trends with words of encouragement started by their supporters.

The Twitter Tracker is continuing to monitor VMA activity, under top 10 celebs to check it out and see who's up in the days following the big show!

Top 10 celebs by number of mentions:

Beyoncé 280,000
Lady Gaga: 237,000
The Throne: 183,000
Adele: 159,000
Chris Brown: 110,000
Lil Wayne: 104,000
Tyler, the Creator: 72,000
Nicki Minaj: 66,000
Bruno Mars: 57,000
Katy Perry: 54,000

Lady Gaga Has Three Heads In New Fashion Film

Mother Monster collaborates with Thierry Mugler for latest visual art piece that debuted at Paris Fashion Week.
By Jocelyn Vena

Photo: BuzzFoto

Lady Gaga and her pal, Thierry Mugler designer Nicola Formichetti, hit Paris Fashion Week once again, dropping a new film during the Mugler women's wear show on Wednesday.

As MTV News previously reported, Gaga and Formichetti teamed up with directors Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin for the project. On Thursday (September 29), fans not in Paris for Fashion Week got to see a special edit of the film when it premiered online.

The video, which mixes Mugler runway show footage with clips from the new Gaga film, offers another take on Mother Monster's ever-evolving persona. It opens on a close-up of Gaga's face, her teeth diamond-encrusted, as she says, "Sometimes, my heart sometimes feels so black ... and other days my heart feels like rainbows."

She flips her multicolored hair, saying, "I am Paris. We are Paris." In the next scene, a three-headed Gaga dances while a haunting track plays in the background. The image is reminiscent of the one that appeared on the cover of V magazine earlier this year. (As for the runway show, the clothes seen in the video are futuristic in style, in mostly muted tones.)

The directors, Inez and Vinoodh, worked with Gaga on her "Yoü and I" fashion films and, so far, three have featured some of her alter egos, including the nymph, the bride and Yüyi the mermaid. More "Yoü and I" films are expected to premiere, but when and where remains a mystery.

Gaga and Mugler have collaborated before: Besides the fact that designer Formichetti is her stylist, he has also debuted some of her brand-new music at his shows. In January, she premiered a remix of her Born This Way track "Scheiße" at a Mugler fashion show. Two months later, in March, Gaga not only walked the runway at a show, she debuted her song "Government Hooker"

The pop star is already back at work on her next album. Late Wednesday, she tweeted, "Almost #14MillionMonsters!! Thank you for making Born This Way really matter, this has been a crazy memorable year! Writing music today."

Share your thoughts on Gaga's new film in the comments section!

Lady Gaga And Cher Make 'History' On 'Greatest Thing'

Producer RedOne tells MTV News how the Gaga track turned into one seriously epic duet.

For all the Lady Gaga and Cher fans out there who fainted at the news that two of pop music's biggest stars have teamed up on a soon-to-be released record, your wait is almost over!

Cher herself confirmed via Twitter back in August that we would hear "The Greatest Thing" sometime in September, and because the month is quickly coming to an end, we should only have a few more days to wait to hear the highly anticipated track.

To hold you over until the release, MTV News recently caught up with RedOne, the producer mastermind behind the soon-to-be hit, to find out how the song came to be and why everyone will love it.

"[Gaga and I] recorded the song a few years ago, and we were always in the studio enjoying that song. It's weird we never did anything with it," he said. "So I remember my management and Cher's management were trying to get us together, and I thought, 'Oh my God, I'd love to meet Cher, just to meet her!' And so I met her, I played her some songs, and I played her 'The Greatest Thing,' and she loved it. She said, 'This is my song,' I said, 'Yes, it's your song.' "

RedOne said he let Gaga know via text message, and she was ecstatic. Then, about a month later, Red received a text from Gaga that inspired an epic pairing.

"I cut the vocals with Cher first, and I was in Madrid and got a text from Gaga saying, 'I'm thinking about jumping on the song in the remix,' " he recalled. "I was like, 'No, you should jump on the original! Make it a duet.' She said, 'Oh yes, OK, absolutely,' and then I spoke to Cher, and it became a party.

"Everybody loved it," he added. "Gaga on it, Cher, two big icons, [they are] part of music history. So it happened. I'm very happy to be a part of this."

Of course, RedOne wouldn't reveal when we'll hear the track, only that it's coming soon.

Jason Derulo 'Let It All Hang Out' On Future History

Sophomore album is 'an open book on my life,' singer tells MTV News.

Jason Derülo's sophomore effort, Future History, finally hit stores Tuesday. The album features Derülo's signature dance beats, a sexy sound, personal lyrics and, of course, he name-drops himself on a few of the tracks.

Future History has already given fans two hit singles with "Don't Wanna Go Home" and "It Girl," and promises plenty more club-ready songs that are each very special to the pop star.

"Future History is the greatest accomplishment in my life. I've been working on it for the past six months now," Derülo said. "It is something that is very special to me. It's an open book on my life. I wasn't afraid to say anything: I just let it all hang out, and I told a story.

"I got a song about a stalker situation, my cousin passing away and missing her. I wasn't trying to hide anything," he explained.

When coming up with the title for his second album, Derülo had no trouble thinking of the name, which he now has tattooed on his arm.

"It represents where I've come from," he said. "It took a long time to get to where I am now. It's been a long journey, a fruitful journey, but it's been a long one, and now is the bridge between where I've come from and where I see myself going in the future. That's why it's called Future History."

With so many personal and meaningful songs on the album, can Derülo possibly pick a favorite?

"Each song has a special meaning to me, so it's hard for me to choose," he said. "Honestly, I write songs based on my life, and each story has a special place because of that, so it's hard to choose."

Derülo said he hopes that when listening to the album, his fans feel the same passion he does.

"I just want people to be able to be moved," he said. "I want my songs to be a soundtrack to something."

Kanye West's Fashion Show 'Monumental,' Ciara Says

'I saw Kanye after, and I told him it was amazing,' Ciara tells MTV News via phone from Paris Fashion Week.

Kanye West finally unveiled his much-discussed womenswear line Saturday night (October 1) with a high-profile show at Paris Fashion Week that was as full of eye-catching designs as it was celebs.

From Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour to actress Lindsay Lohan, the stars were on full display for West's show. Minutes after 'Ye took his bow, we spoke to Ciara, who phoned MTV News from backstage to give us her take on the collection. And, yes, she was impressed with what she saw.

"It was amazing. The clothes, the feeling in the room, the energy backstage -- it really feels special," she said. "It was definitely one of the most talked-about events [of Paris Fashion Week], because it wasn't going to be your typical show. This doesn't happen every day, and to see someone like Kanye, who aspires to succeed in fashion, to get so much respect and cross over like this, it was monumental. It was an historic moment."

While she was amazed by the fashion community's embracing of West, Ciara was quick to point out that she was just as struck by his designs, singling out a few favorite looks.

"I loved the pants, the color-blocking and the orange, I loved the fur accessories, I loved the black dresses," she said. "There was a lot of attitude. It was strong, sexy ... I loved it. I kept seeing looks that made me think, 'Oh my God, I want that.' "

Just before she phoned MTV News, Ciara had a chance to speak with West backstage, congratulating him on a job well done. As she was getting ready to head out into the night ("There's definitely an afterparty," she laughed), she also took a moment to reflect on (and draw inspiration from) what she had just witnessed.

"I saw Kanye after, and I told him it was amazing. But there was so much chaos backstage -- good chaos, of course. He was excited, and it was just so much good energy," she said. "And now, I'm walking away from this being inspired. He continues to inspire me with everything that he does. And tonight was definitely a moment."

T.I. Drops 'I'm Flexin',' His First Post-Prison Track

Big K.R.I.T. produced the song and is featured on the chorus.

T.I. just completed his 11-month prison sentence Thursday, and he's already dropping musical heat. On Friday (September 30), the Atlanta rapper released his first post-prison single, "I'm Flexin'," featuring Big K.R.I.T.

The song was originally due for release Monday, but instead, fans are getting an end-of-the-week treat. The multitalented K.R.I.T., whose debut album's release has been pushed back to next year, handles the song's chorus and production, while T.I. delivers three verses with a double-time flow, using the song to assert that he is officially back. "My hustle grand, my money long, my spot on top but y'all want that/ My position vacant, my crown away but my throne is empty, I own that," he spits on the second verse over the instrumental's nimble drums, keys and electric guitars.

T.I. appeared on Atlanta radio station Hot 107.9, giving his first interview since being released from prison. During his chat, T.I. gave praise to the current movement in his hometown of Atlanta with the surge of new rappers and said that the city needs his help. Later Friday, Tip will celebrate his birthday at Atlanta's Club Esso.

Since his return to a halfway house to finish his federal sentence, Tip has appeared on songs with 2 Chainz ("Spend It" remix), Future ("Magic" remix) and Young Jeezy ("F.A.M.E."). But "I'm Flexin'," which was released via Tip's TrapMuzik.com website, is the first song credited as his own. Also made available was an excerpt from the trap rapper's upcoming novel, "Power & Beauty: A Love Story of Life on the Streets," co-written with David Ritz, which will be released October 18.

As for more music, a message Thursday on Tip's Twitter reveals that fans can expect a few more remixes from the "Rubberband Man" shortly. "N!*%$ in Paris already a dun-datta...pending Ye&J's approval. 'Sleezy' w/Ke$ha & 'Magic' w/Future too...what else???" he tweeted.

"The record is hot," DJ Drama, T.I.'s longtime collaborator, told MTV News about "I'm Flexin' " earlier this week. "Big K.R.I.T. deserves it. He's been working for a long time. So they're both fans of each other, so sh-- is definitely gonna be a nice sound for the ear."

Seth Rogen Says '50/50' Head-Shaving Scene Was Improvised

'My heart was beating hard,' Joseph Gordon-Levitt tells MTV News.
By Amy Wilkinson

If the Summit Entertainment marketing machine has done its job, you've probably seen the eye-catching movie posters for the studio's latest release "50/50." The goofy one-sheet depicts a memorable scene from the film in which Joseph Gordon-Levitt's cancer-stricken Adam shaves his head, while a dubious Adam (played by Seth Rogen) looks on.

It's one of the movie's many lighthearted moments, adding levity to what could otherwise be a downer drama. But according to the film's stars, the take wasn't as carefree as it may have looked.

"My heart was beating hard, because we only had one take because you can't shave your head twice. It doesn't work," Gordon-Levitt said at the "50/50" premiere earlier this week in New York. "Normally, you can always do it over again when you're making movies. You get a take two. But we only got take one, and it worked."

Apparently, Gordon-Levitt had another reason to be nervous about the scene — it wasn't scripted. According to producer and co-star Rogen, the two just played it by ear.

"We only had one shot at it," Rogen recalled. "It was the first day of filming, and we improvised the whole thing, which is not wise when it's something you have one take for, but it turned out funny. It went exactly how you see it in the movie, which was pretty good, I think."

You can judge Gordon-Levitt's razor skills for yourself: "50/50," co-starring Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard and Anjelica Huston, opened Friday (September 30).

Check out everything we've got on "50/50."

Shailene Woodley Is New Class' 'Most Likely To Surprise'

'The Secret Life of the American Teenager' actress will star with George Clooney in 'The Descendants.'

Shailene Woodley is already the star of the hit ABC Family series "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." For those not familiar with the show: It's kind of like MTV's "Teen Mom," but all the drama is fiction. Still only a teenager at 19, Woodley is readying her not-so-secret life for the next phase of her budding career.

She's set to star in the Alexander Payne-directed "The Descendants" with George Clooney, and her turn in the drama will likely help her connect to a whole new crop of fans. The film, which opens November 18, centers on a family trying to piece their lives back together.

Clooney plays Woodley's dad who is trying to reconnect with her after his wife gets in a boating accident that leaves her in a coma.

Now that Woodley is ready to show another side of herself, she is the up-and-comer MTV Movies has named the New Class' "Most Likely to Surprise Everyone."

MTV: Do you get excited about roles?

Shailene Woodley: From the second I first read the screenplay for "The Descendants," I was incredibly passionate about it. I loved how human it was and how it dealt with raw emotions, and it didn't try and cover up the messiness of everyday life. So, I was incredibly passionate about it ... And then Alexander became attached, and George Clooney became attached. Those were added components, but it was the screenplay that I fell in love with.

MTV: There are so many points where you can relate to this story. Can you give me a sense of what really hit you hard?

Woodley: There's so many components: the loss of someone or someone being in a hospital or the dysfunctional family. Everyone can relate to all of those; we've all had those hardships. But, for me, it was more about the art of making a film that was real and a film that was human because I feel like cinema has drifted so far away from the truth of humanity that it was really refreshing to be raw and emotional in a film that was also comedic.

MTV: We're always looking ahead, so we're anointing you as a part of our New Class. Does it feel like now the choices are going to be different and more important?

Woodley: People always talk about "strategy" and whatnot. If a screenplay fuels my soul, then that's what fuels my soul, and that's what I'm going to be passionately committed to. I would love to continue to do movies 'cause that's where my heart lies. I'm so grateful to the show, and I look forward to seeing what happens, and in the meantime, I'll go hike the Swiss Alps.

MTV: Is it useful to look at other actors [for inspiration]?

Woodley: Absolutely! I think the world of Natalie Portman and Ryan Gosling and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I find them so inspiring, not only as actors, but as human beings, and I really respect their choices in films and what they bring to the table.
